About the I-9 Management Workflow Service.

Is digital I-9 allowed?
Yes since 2009. ICE allows electronic I-9s if they meet integrity, accuracy, and reliability standards. Our system meets the requirements: tamper-evident storage, complete audit trail, retrievable on demand.
What is the retention period?
3 years after hire OR 1 year after termination, whichever is later. So a 10-year employee's I-9 is retained for 11 years (10 + 1). A 1-year employee's I-9 is retained for 3 years from hire.
What is List A vs. List B+C?
List A: documents proving both identity AND work eligibility (US passport, permanent resident card). List B: identity only (driver's license). List C: work eligibility only (SSN card). Employee picks: List A alone, OR List B + List C.
What about remote employees?
Current rules (since 2023) allow alternative procedures for E-Verify enrolled employers to review documents remotely. Non-E-Verify employers still need in-person review. We coordinate compliant workflows for both.
What is reverification?
Some employment authorization documents expire (work visas, EADs). I-9 must be updated when the document expires (Section 3). Permanent resident cards do not require reverification. We track and prompt.
What are the penalties for I-9 violations?
