1099-K reconciliation
Stripe / PayPal / Square / Etsy / eBay reconciled

Match every 1099-K to your books. Stripe, PayPal, Square, Etsy, all of them.

Payment processors and marketplaces send 1099-Ks to the IRS reporting your gross transaction volume. The threshold dropped to $5,000 in 2024, $2,500 in 2025, $600 in 2026 and beyond, so almost every online business gets one. Reported gross volume rarely matches your bookkeeping revenue (refunds, chargebacks, sales tax, processing fees, and timing differences cause gaps). We reconcile each 1099-K against your books and document the differences for your tax return.

How it works

How we handle 1099-K Reconciliation, end-to-end.

Payment processors and marketplaces send 1099-Ks to the IRS reporting your gross transaction volume.

1

1099-K collection

We collect every 1099-K you received: Stripe, PayPal, Square, Etsy, eBay, Shopify Payments, Amazon, Venmo Business, Cash App for Business, Toast, Uber Eats / DoorDash partner accounts, and any others.

2

Bookkeeping pull

We pull your revenue from QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Wave, or any other accounting system you use. We match by processor, by month, and by transaction-level detail when needed.

3

Reconciliation analysis

We document why the 1099-K differs from your books: refunds and chargebacks (deducted from your revenue but included in 1099-K gross), processing fees (your revenue is net, 1099-K is gross), sales tax (varies by processor), and timing differences across year-end.

4

Tax-return ready summary

We deliver a reconciliation worksheet for your tax preparer that shows: 1099-K gross, reconciling items by category with dollar amounts, and the net revenue figure that goes on your tax return. Defensible if the IRS asks.

FAQ

About the 1099-K Reconciliation Service.

What is a 1099-K?
An information return from payment processors and marketplaces reporting your gross transaction volume to the IRS. Stripe sends one if you took payments through Stripe. PayPal sends one if you received PayPal payments. Etsy, eBay, Shopify, Square, Amazon all send their own. The IRS gets a copy.
What is the 1099-K reporting threshold?
The threshold dropped from $20,000 (pre-2024) to $5,000 (2024), $2,500 (2025), $600 (2026 and beyond) per the American Rescue Plan Act (though Congress is debating reversing the drop). Most online businesses now get one even on small revenue.
Why does my 1099-K not match my bookkeeping revenue?
Several reasons: 1099-K reports gross (before refunds, chargebacks, processing fees) while books report net. Marketplace facilitator sales tax may or may not be included. Year-end timing causes transactions settled in January to be reported in December's 1099-K. Reconciliation documents the differences.
Do I have to file a 1099-K with my tax return?
No. The 1099-K is sent to the IRS by the processor. You do not attach it to your return. But your reported revenue must reconcile to the 1099-K total because the IRS matches them. Discrepancies trigger CP2000 mismatch notices.
What happens if my reported revenue is less than the 1099-K?
The IRS sends a CP2000 notice asking you to either explain the difference or pay the tax on the unreported income. Without reconciliation documentation it is hard to defend. With our reconciliation worksheet you have a defensible explanation ready.
Is the 1099-K threshold dropping really happening?
Yes, but slowly. The American Rescue Plan Act lowered the threshold from $20,000/200 transactions to $600 in 2022. The IRS phased the change: $5,000 for 2024, $2,500 for 2025, $600 for 2026. Congress has discussed reverting but as of mid-2026 the phased-in lower threshold is in effect.
