I just formed my LLC. What do I do next?
Five things in order: bank account, EIN confirmation, Operating Agreement, accountant intro, compliance plan.
You just formed. Here is the order of operations for the next two weeks:
1. Open a business bank account (within 7 days)
Use the EIN we issued and your Articles of Organization. Mercury, Relay, Chase Business, and Brex are pre-integrated in your dashboard. Mercury and Relay accept international founders.
2. Verify the EIN confirmation letter (CP 575)
This is in your dashboard under Documents. You will need it for the bank, for payroll, and for tax filings. Save it; the IRS does not reissue it.
3. Sign your Operating Agreement
If you have co-founders, sign now while everyone is aligned. If you are solo, signing it is still useful for veil-piercing protection. Draft is in your dashboard.
4. Introduce yourself to an accountant
You don't need one today, but you will need one by next March (or sooner if you plan to elect S-Corp). Our accountant directory has specialists by entity type.
5. Pick a compliance plan
The free formation only covers the filing itself. Ongoing compliance (annual reports, BOI for foreign-formed, state changes, S-Corp election) is the paid layer. Solo is $99/year and works for most single-entity owners.

Contact a specialistOn the $129/yr Compliance Annual Filings plan, we cover state late fees.
When you autofile your annual report through the $129/yr plan and we miss the deadline, we pay the state's late fee. The guarantee applies to that specific plan and the filings it includes. Other File.Business services are billed at the prices on this page.
